Behind the Screens: My First Month as Suds ‘n’ Sons Social Media & Admin Specialist

If you’d told me a few months ago that I’d be bringing my background in hospitality and design into the office of an exterior cleaning company, I probably would’ve wondered how those pieces fit together. But one month into my role as the Social Media & Administrator Specialist at Suds ‘n’ Sons in Worcester, I can safely say it’s been a perfect match.

Coming from a background split between hospitality and graphic design, my focus has always been on two things: creating great customer experiences and obsessing over the details. Whether it was welcoming guests with a warm smile or aligning pixels and typography to make a layout pop, quality always mattered.

Stepping into my new role as the Social Media & Administrator Specialist at Suds ‘n’ Sons in Worcester over the last month, I quickly discovered that those exact skills are the secret engine running behind the scenes of the family business.

Learning the Business Beyond the Glass

Before joining the team, my view of window cleaning was pretty simple: ladder, bucket, squeegee. I was in for an eye-opener!

In my first four weeks, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of how a modern, professional exterior cleaning company operates. I already knew the ropes when it came to purified RO water, as I keep marine fish and corals as a hobby, but I’ve enjoyed learning more about high-reach poles, soft washing, and how we handle everything from solar panel efficiency washes to deep driveway pressure washing and fascia restorations across Worcester.

While I’m not becoming an exterior cleaner myself, understanding the work behind the scenes has helped me grow into my role as Social Media and Admin Specialist.

Because of my graphic design background, I look at our work through a visual lens. Turning our team’s daily transformations, like taking years of grime off a driveway or making solar panels look brand new, into sharp, eye-catching social posts and videos has been an absolute joy. There’s incredible visual satisfaction in taking raw footage from the field and crafting content that showcases the real craft Tim and Scott put into every job.

Bringing Hospitality to the Office & Admin Desk

While getting up to speed on exterior cleaning tech was a fun learning curve, the administrative and customer care side felt like home right away. Hospitality taught me that great service starts long before anyone arrives on-site.

At Suds ‘n’ Sons, we pride ourselves on being reliable, polite, and completely hassle-free. Over the past month, I’ve taken charge of our in-house admin, handling customer enquiries, sending automated SMS reminders ahead of visits, managing schedules, and making sure our clients get fast, friendly answers every single time.

Combining that hospitality-driven customer care with clean, professional visual graphics across our Facebook and social channels has helped make our service smoother and more connected than ever.

Looking Ahead

One month in, my desk is organised, our social channels are buzzing, and I couldn’t be happier with the move. I’ve learned the ins and outs of a thriving local business, and I’m proud to be the voice behind the screen and on the phone for our clients across Worcester, Evesham and beyond.
